Rather than going to the usual sources for a Dually Headcollor, try www.cotswoldsport.co.uk. I received my latest one 3 days after placing the order, was charged a total of £38 inc p&p and the "how to use dvd" was free, unlike other places. Steve

Thats good for the dually, I think I got mine for £45 - the video came with it. What size did you get Steve? I got the Blue one which is the biggest - the Black is the middle one, the Red the smallest. The Blue, although the biggest, only just fastens on the last hole on the poll strap - that is because Toby is a giant 18.2hh!
Thanks for the Fly Repellant bj - can we use it on ourselves too? Yeh, I know, we would stink to high heaven..... but then I do anyway Lol! Another tip for fly repellant is Bounce Tumble Dryer Sheets - just wipe them over your horse - they are really good; and I tuck one in my top pocket and one in my base-ball cap - the cleggs especially hate them - and I especially hate cleggs!!

Instead of a well known brand that you paint on the hoof to harden it and which costs a fortune for a small bottle, try using formaldehyde at a mixture of 8% (that big long word) and 92% water. It does exactly the same and should be treated as such. Steve

How can ordinary mortals get hold of formaldehyde Steve? I thought it was used to preserve bodies?

It is. Your chemists should be able to supply you small quantities as long as though you can satisfy them on what your intended use is. Steve

We get Formaldehyde from our local Farm Supplies/Feed Merchant - it is used for foot baths for sheep to treat foot rot and scald.

A packet of fragrance free baby wipes in your grooming kit is cheap, gentle and handy to wipe ears, eyes, nose, etc

Welcome Whisperer, Silly billy, not 8%, formaldehyde. 8% formaldehyde and 92% water. Steve

toothpaste for treating mud fever. it's the same kind of nasty thing that can live in our mouths clean the mud fever with some hibiscrub in water. thoroughly dry the area, (should also help loosen the scabs) then apply toothpaste and leave over night. (best to have the horse stabled) then repeat in the morning. you can turn out am once toothpaste has dried in. and bring in again pm. keep repeating it until the mud fever has cleared.
